In powerlifting competitions, a standard providing sufficient time for lifters to prepare and execute their lifts is essential. For a flight consisting of 4 lifters, the allocated time at the end of each round is set to 2 minutes. This duration allows lifters to rest adequately, recover, and make any necessary adjustments to their attempts while transitioning between each lifter's turn.

The 2-minute timeframe is also designed to keep the competition flowing smoothly and efficiently, preventing delays while accommodating each lifter’s needs. This balance is crucial for maintaining the overall schedule of the meet. Competitions can become very lengthy, and timed intervals help ensure that every lifter gets their chance in a timely manner.

While longer or shorter times might seem appealing for various reasons, they may compromise the lifters' ability to perform optimally or can lead to unnecessary delays in the progression of the event. Thus, the choice of 2 minutes reflects both fairness and efficiency in managing the competition rhythm.
